The rainbow market of Bac Ha

The Northern mountains of Vietnam hold a beautiful town called Bac Ha. This village is well known for its vibrant and energetic market. Every Sunday, the locals gather in the village square to sell their goods۰

Visiting the market needs some planning. Managing the time of the visit (on Sunday morning) and the transportation makes your journey easier. Try to visit it early in the morning to avoid the flood of tourists۰

We reached the market with our private driver and guide. We visited it just after we arrived, by the overnight train, from Hanoi and before heading to SaPa. The drive was easy and comfortable۰

The market is a unique place to see locals. You will be amazed by the bright colors, the culture, the food and the vivacity of this place۰

Women and girls are dressed in traditional colorful clothing and doing an amazing job. You will hear every time you pass by any stall the English sentence:” Buy something! or Shopping”۰

Otherwise, men are doing nothing than smoking and eating. It reflects the lifestyle of the Vietnamese people۰

Bac Ha market has been one of the highlights of our trip to Vietnam. It left great memories and marked our minds۰
